Our next game is fixed for Saturday 26th v Russell Rovers at home @ 5pm.

Subs used Sean O’Meara, James O’Leary, Davy Hogan & Alan Stanton.

Ladies Football
We travelled to Watergrasshill for the quarter final of the Fe16 East Cork Championship recently. It was not to be our night as they finished winners on a score line of 3-11 to our 2-5 with Watergrasshill getting most of their scores in the first half and us getting most of ours in the second. A great goal from Molly at the end of the first half kept us in the game. Behind by eight points at half time we stormed into the game after half time and straight away Abby ended up at the end of a great movement of the ball up the field rattled the back of the net. We completely dominated for the next ten mins, but we couldn’t convert our scores to goals even though we scored five great points. Reduced to fourteen players due to a yellow card, they came back into the game and scored a late goal and a couple of points to take the game out of our reach. To sum up we were poor in the first half but the girls ran themselves into the ground for the second half. We couldn’t ask for more. Hard luck girls. We have no complaints they were that bit stronger on the night and we wish them all the best in the semi final.
Training will continue each Monday night at 07:00 in the Rugby Club.
Team/Panel: Clodagh Finn; Laura O’Leary; Deirdre Corcoran; Roisin O’Callaghan; Dionne Carroll (Captain); Charley Moore, Claudia Kearney, Sarah Murphy; Fiona Murphy; Rhea Buckley; Abby Quirke,  Molly Beausang , Kari McEvoy, Lizzie Phiri,, Sadhbh Beausang, Lucy Kenneally

On Saturday last both our Fe8 and 10 girls were travelling again. This time it was to Ballyphehane for another Blitz. Luckily the weather was good for us. This is a blitz the Club has been invited to attend for the last few years and once again it was another successful event. Our U8 girls were in a group with Nemo, Ballyphehane, Bishopstown and Fermoy. Well done to all of our girls who put in a fantastic effort in each of the games.

Camogie
It was a busy week for Midleton Camogie starting with a trip to Croke Park on Sunday last. Sixty four supporters boarded two buses from the club at 9am, arriving  back  over twelve hours later, it was a long day, but all that travelled were  rewarded when we saw captain Aisling Thompsan lift the O’Duffy Cup ensuring it returns to  Lee side for another twelve months.  Congratulations to the Cork Senior Team All Ireland Champions. We hope to welcome them back to Midleton along with the cup in the coming weeks.

We welcomed Castlemartyr and Carrigtwohill  to an under 6’s, under 7’s and under 8’s  blitz  held Midleton GAA grounds on Saturday afternoon last . Juvenile

Fe7
On Saturday morning we had a great turnout of thirty eight young talented hurlers who travelled to Riverstown to take on the local Sars lads. It was a return fixture to Sars for their visit to Midleton back in July. Thanks to Sarsfields for hosting us on lovely autumnal morning. It was great to see the so many parents and grandparents supporting the lads during their matches. The coaches were very proud of their efforts. We gave it our all, got stuck in and never gave up. Looking forward to our final outing next week against Carrigtwohill and Killeagh.

Fe11
Our Davy Hogan Street Leagues took place last Saturday morning in the club.
The teams involved were St Marys, Sons of Rest, St Endas, and Garryowen.
The finals will be on next Saturday at the club.

Fe12
Our busy Magpies travelled to Danesfort, Kilkenny on Saturday last. This annual blitz is a sought after competition and we were delighted to be invited back again this year. Eight teams compete and we were the only team from outside of Kilkenny to play at it this year. Our first game was against Dunamaggin. We started very well and by half time we were two goals up. They came back into the game in the second half but we held on to win the game by three points. The next game, the semi-final of the tournament was against Young Ireland’s. This was another hard fought game and our boys showed plenty of grit and determination throughout. This resulted in us having a very good win and so qualified the boys for the tournament final. After a short break the final was to be a game against Callan. We had a whirlwind start and had the ball in the net a number of times in the first half. So the team was set up nicely for the remainder of the game. The second half saw us start very well again and it wasn’t long before the game had definitely fallen in our direction. At the final whistle we were crowned champions and Kelvin Barry received the cup on behalf of a very happy panel. We then went from Danesfort to Thomastown to watch Ballyhale beat James Stephens in the quarter final of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship.

Premier 1 Autumn League:
Having returned from Kilkenny late Saturday evening this panel was up early again on Sunday to play Slieve Rue at 11 am in the Tech Field. What another cracking game of hurling we witnessed. The first half was a ding dong affair with plenty of great scores from both teams. At half time Midleton were a goal behind. There was no let-up of the excitement in the second half. The game ended in a draw after Slieve Rue equalized with the last shot of the game. That leaves us with one win and two draws in the Premier 1 Autumn league.
Comhghairdeas le gach na himreoirí, meantóirí agus tuismitheoirí.

Fe16
Our footballers lost out in the Premier 2 County Championship semi final last Saturday afternoon to Carbery Rangers by 3-06 to 4-10.
It was a very tough and hard fought game. The lads did Midleton very proud with their efforts and but for a few decisions and a bit of luck that didn't go our way we could have reached the final. It would have been nothing more than our boys would have deserved. Well done to all.
