Senior Hurling
We had a very hard fought victory in the fourth round of the County Championship last Saturday evening against St Finbarr’s in Pairc Ui Rinn. Having played our first round game back in May it took us some time to find our feet in this one and an uncharacteristic high number of wides , twenty in total made for a very nerve wracking finale to the game. We held on for a two point victory leaving plenty to work on for the next round. Well done to the players and management on this victory.
Final Score: Midleton 1-15 v St Finbarrs 1-13
We now face either Douglas or Duhallow in the quarter final in the coming weeks.

Junior Hurling
We lost out to Dungourney on Sunday evening last at Ballynoe in the East Cork Junior A semi final. After two very good victory’s in the previous rounds confidence was high heading into this game but the loss of Sean O’Farrell and Seanaidh Smyth to injury and Peter Dowling to the senior team had its impact. At halftime we trailed by 1-08 to 0-04 and in the second half the closest we got to them was four points but we couldn’t get a second goal which we needed badly. We eventually lost out by 2-15 to 1-12.Well done to the players and management on their efforts throughout the year.
Team: Joe Loftus (capt.), Billy O’Shea, Eoin Feriter, Elliot Mulcahy, Darren Quirke, Finbar O’Mahony, Luke Dineen, Padraig O’Farrell, Padraig O’Keeffe (0-06 frees), Leslie Coughlan (0-01), Shane Ryan, Padraic Nagle (0-01), Cormac Beausang (0-02), Michael Abernethy (0-01) & Declan Ryan. Minor Hurling
Last Wednesday evening our Minor hurlers lost to Aghada  in the fourth round of the Premier 2 Championship at Killeagh. At the halftime break we were behind by 0-09 to 0-04, despite making a spirited comeback in the second half the concession of two goals decided the outcome of this contest.
Well done to the players and management for their efforts throughout the year.

Ladies Football
Junior: Midleton 2-11 v Courcey Rovers 3-7
Midleton had the narrowest of wins in a pulsating ladies football championship game played in Midleton on Sunday night.  Playing into the town end in the first half, Midleton opened the scoring with an excellent Orlaigh Farmer point after just two minutes.  Courceys responded with two points in the fifth and sixth minutes.  A brace of points by Ciara McGrath, one following a great one two with Orlagh Farmer restored Midleton’s lead.  As would happen for the remainder of the game, Courceys bounced back and scored a point followed by a goal within two minutes, the latter as a result of some slack defending.  Trailing by a goal, the Midleton determination showed and the Midleton midfield pairing of Claire O’Brien and Leah McEvoy began to take control of the open spaces. Claire O’Mahony was working hard in a sometimes stretched defence.  Over the next five minutes Midleton won all the 50:50 balls with Lucy Lawton having another great game in defence and Caoimhe Ryan troubling the Courcey full back line. Midleton scored two more points from Chloe Sigerson and Orlagh Farmer to restore Midleton’s advantage.  Trailing 1-5 to 1-3 Courcey Rovers broke onto a loose ball, created an overlap and goaled to retake the lead.  Within the minute Chloe Sigerson billowed the rebound to the Courcey net following an excellent save from Ciara McGrath.  Two more points from Courceys brought the game back to parity.  Kate Mary Cullinane made a point blank save to keep matters level before Michaela McGann pointed to allow Midleton nose in front at the half time break.
Midleton settled well at the opening of the second half with points from Ciara McGrath and Orlagh Farmer to extend to a three point lead, the largest at any point in the game. This lasted for all of three minutes before Courceys levelled again with a fine goal.  Niamh O’Farrell was having a stormer at the edge of the square, with Meg O’Regan and Ruth Goulding not yielding and inch in either corner. With the ball going from end to end and Aoife Madden joining the midfield and attack at every opportunity, Midleton were creating more chances.  On the 11th minute of the half Chloe Sigerson scored a fine point before Courceys equalised two minutes later.  With a three on two overlap and Courceys heading for the 21, Deirdre Corcoran brilliantly read the pass and intercepted to set up another Midleton counter attack.  Play ebbed and flowed with Ciara O’Doherty setting up Ciara McGrath for a smashing point.  Back came Courceys and after Roisin O’Callaghan had brilliantly intercepted one long pass, Courceys eventually equalised with eight minutes remaining. Midleton were now piling on the pressure and Charley Moore was winning a number of the Courcey kick outs which were surprising always been kicked to the same wing.  Pressure finally told with Ciara McGrath kicking Midleton’s winning point with a full six minutes to go.  Both teams committed everything to the battle but Midleton deservedly held on for an exciting win by the tightest of margins.  This was a highly entertaining game.
Midleton panel :  Kate Mary Cullinane, Megan O’Regan, Niamh O’Farrell, Ruth Goulding, Claire O’Mahony, Aoife Madden, Lucy Lawton, Claire O’Brien, Leah McEvoy, Michaela McGann, Orlagh Farmer, Ciara O’Doherty, Caoimhe Ryan, Ciara McGrath, Chloe Sigerson, Charley Moore, Deirdre Corcoran, Roisin O’Callaghan, Kari McEvoy, Cristin O’Keeffe, Rhea Buckley.

Condolences
The Executive of the Club would like to express their deepest sympathy’s to the family of the late Sean Fleming. Sean late of Mill Road and Bishopstown was a past player with the club, Imokilly and Cork in the 40’s and 50’s. He won a Junior Hurling County in 1945, captained our Intermediates to win the County final in 1948. Between the late 40’s and early 50’s he represented Imokilly senior hurlers and footballers and played for a number of years with the Cork Junior hurlers culminating in All Ireland victory in 1950. When Midleton returned to the senior grade in 1952 Sean played a major role on this team for a number of years. During his playing career he also served a number of terms on the Committee. In his memory a minute’s silence was observed at both the Senior and Junior Championship games this weekend. May he rest in peace.

Juvenile

Fe8
On Saturday morning last our Fe 8's travelled to a sunny Killeagh for another round of the Monster Blitz series. We were missing a lot of players due to summer holidays, but we still managed to have 26 very enthusiastic young magpies who showed great commitment, teamwork, skill and above all sportsmanship throughout the action packed morning. We had 3 teams who played against Cobh, Carraig na bhfear, Aghada, Killeagh, Lisgoold and Glenville. Well done to all the players who took to the field and keep up the good work. I would like to thank our Referee Coleman Quinn, also to Killeagh Gaa and Sean Crowley GDA for another we'll run Blitz. After some our lads met former Cork great Joe Deane who very kindly stood in for a photo.

Fe12
For the first week in a long while we have had no match over the last 7 days. There are still a lot of matches between now and the end of the season so all of the U12 coaches are using this opportunity as a chance to recharge their batteries. Training continues as usual on Wednesdays 7-8pm on the Tech Field, Fridays 6:15 -7:15 pm on the Tech Field and Saturdays 11 am to midday on the main GAA field.

Fe14
Our hurlers had a very good victory over Blackrock last Friday night in the Premier 1 Hurling League by 3-16 to 1-04.
This coming Wednesday evening we host Cobh in the League at 7pm.

Fe15
Our hurlers had a facile win against Ballincollig on Thursday night last on s scoreline of 2-28 to 0-4. As the score suggests this was a one sided game and Midleton were always on top. The game was a good run out for all our squad players. We now head up the P1 Hurling League with maximum points from six outings. We have an upcoming away fixture against Inniscarra coming up next weekend and we eagerly await the Fe15 Hurling Championship fixtures dates.

Fe16
Our footballers had a very good victory over Inniscarra in the Premier 2 Football Championship last Monday at home by 3-10 to 2-08.
