Junior Football League
Last Friday evening we were defeated by Erins Own in Caherlag in a game of the proverbial two halves! We found ourselves well behind in the first half but fough back bravely in the second only for time to run out.

We have been drawn to play Aghada in the next round of the Championship.

5 Year Development Plan Launch
Last Friday evening a great crowd turned out in the Club where the Development Plan Steering Committee officially launched the Final draft of our Club Plan.
Before these proceedings took place the recent refurbishment of the Lounge was acknowledged by Pavillion Chairman Alan Donegan who called on long serving Bar person Doris O’Regan to cut the tape.
Chairman of the Steering Committee Mark Walsh acted as MC on the night, a brief presentation of the Club Plan was outlined initially. This was followed by an address from each of the Chairperson of the three Clubs , Liam Ryan Hurling & Football, Paddy Corcoran of the Ladies Football and Denis Kelleher of the Camogie Club. Liam Ryan then presented our Club President Monsignor Gould with the first copy of the Plan. Michael Byrne Development Officer of the County Board congratulated the Club for bringing the Plan to fruition and wished everybody well with its implementation. A presentation was made to the Steering Committee Chairman Mark Walsh to acknowledge the great leadership he showed throughout the process. Copies of the Plan were distributed to all the attendee’s and afterwards a special cake to mark the night was cut and food from the Boston Diner was enjoyed by all.

Cork Minor Hurling
Congrats to Seanaidh Smyth who played at corner back and Pat Hartnett (Selector) with the successful Cork minor hurlers who defeated Limerick in the first round of the Championship in Pairc Ui Rinn last Wednesday night. The final score was Cork 2-20 v Limerick 1-13. Ironically in the last quarter of the game Seanaidh the son of former player Jerry found himself marking a Limerick substitute by the name of Conor Boylan son of Dave another former Midleton player.
Cork now await the winners of the Waterford/Limerick game.

Cork Senior Hurling
Recently the Cork hurlers played Laois in Ballacolla to mark the 100th anniversary of Laois’s sole All Ireland success. Cillian Burke and Aidan Ryan played very well in the half backline and Cork finished winners by 1-25 to 0-24.
Interestingly when Laois (Leix) defeated Cork in 1915 by 6-02 v 4-01,Jimmy Ramsell of Midleton was on the team, he should have been captain on the back of Midleton’s County success in 1915 but for some good reason he wasn’t!
Best of luck to all the lads involved with Cork next Sunday in the Allianz League semi final v Dublin in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny.

Camogie
Friday evening last saw a significant milestone for Midleton Camogie Club when the under 14’s girls lined out in black and white for  the clubs first ever competitive match,  playing Grenagh on our home ground.
While the result didn’t go our way the score line didn’t reflect the effort put in by the girls and it certainly didn’t take from the significance of the occasion. To field  a competitive team less than a year after the formation of the club is testament to all involved, to have played on our home ground on the same night as the launch of the 5 year Development Plan Launch was a very proud evening for Midleton Camogie.
Following Friday evenings game Midleton’s Ali Smith took part in the Primary Schools blitz as part of the Cork Primary School Team in Limerick on Saturday last.
Under 14 Panel: Konyinsola  Afolabi,   Abbie Foley,  Chloe Garde,  Theresa  Geary,  Leah Hogan,  Aoife  Lomasney,  Licia Maguire,  Ella Murphy,  Lily O'Connor,  Aine O'Neill,  Rayanna  Power,  Abby Purcell,  Ellen Ryan,  Ali Smith,  Nikola Smolonova,  Lucy Wallace.

Condolences
The Club Executive would like to express their sincere condolences to the O'Farrell family on the recent passing of Sean late of Main St. & late of Kenmare Co. On Saturday morning the games began at 11am, we won all our four games, defeating Carrigaline by 2-07 v 1-01, Fr O’Neills by 1-04 v 0-00, Erins Own by 2-08 v 0-01 and the hosts Nemo Rangers by 5-11 v 0-00. The semi final took place shortly afterwards against the Barrs who earlier had defeated Slieve Rue in the other quarter final. Fe 15
Premier 1 Hurling League Midleton 0-17 Na Piarsaigh 2-07
Our Fe 15 Hurlers accounted for NaPiarsaigh in a highly entertaining encounter played in front of a large crowd at Clonmult Park on Saturday afternoon. The game was played in near ideal conditions with a slight breeze blowing across the field.
The game took a while to get going, but with Midleton dominant in the half back line, they supplied plenty of ball to the forward line and we tapped over 7 points from play and frees in the first 30 minutes. On limited supply Na Piarsaigh scored 1-3 in the opening half, with their main treat and goal coming from their Full Forward, who scored a great goal after a short Midleton puck out was won by NaPiarsaigh. With a few positional changes Midleton came more into the game in the second half and Midleton now held sway at midfield. With the majority of possession Midleton tacked on points from play and frees but there was never more that a few points between the teams at any stage. In the middle of the second half, Na Piarsaigh scored their second goal after a defensive mix up, leaving Midleton just one point ahead, entering the final quarter. The game was now in the "melting pot". Midleton finished the stronger though to record their second win from two starts in the Fe 15 Premier 1 Hurling League. We now play Sars at home next Saturday in an eagerly awaited game.
Team: Ryan O Riordan, Cormac O Brien, Alan Power, Mark Daly, Griffin Hurley, Tommy O Connell, Kian Farmer, Cian Murray, Ross O Regan, Dan Sheehan, Evan Rowlands, Jake Shanahan, Fergus Wade, Kevin Finn, Adam O Connell, Ronan Lynch, Coleman Quinn, Craig Barry.
