Midleton Hurling & Football Notes


Junior B Football Championship
Our footballers will take on Aghada in the second round of the Championship next Friday evening at 8pm in Rostellan.

Lounge Refurbishment
Under the guidance of Pavilion Chairman Alan Donegan the decoration of the Lounge is almost complete with carpets and furniture being replaced and the walls now painted. Over the coming weeks the seating will be completed with bar stools and chairs waiting to be covered, to finish off a fantastic makeover.
If you would like to book the lounge for any event please contact Alan.

East Cork Junior Football Championship
Last Sunday afternoon we hosted the East Cork Junior A Football Championship, Carrigtwohill lost out to a very competent Glenbower Rovers side by 0-07 to 5-10, Glenbower now have recoded 4 titles in a row and we congratulate them in doing so. Many thanks to the club members who helped out on the day and also to the East Cork Board for awarding us this fixture.

County Board Draw
A very successful launch of the Cork GAA Clubs' Draw took place recently at Ballincollig GAA pavilion. The Draw has been an outstanding success, with the Clubs of the County making over a staggering €15 million euros since it commenced (at no risk to the Clubs as the Cork County Board funds the prizes and admin costs ). It also has enabled the Board to fund coaching and youth development in the County.
This year's prize fund is  a whopping €450,000, with cash, cars and holidays to be won in the monthly draws. To join, contact our Club Draw co coordinator Steve Sheehan, any Club officer or call to the GAA club.

Gaa Golf Society
A nice crowd turned out last Saturday afternoon at Waterock Golf course for the Paddy Hayes Memorial outing. Luckily the conditions turned out to be very good and it led to some good scores. The results were as follows: Winner Michael Crotty, 2nd Coleman Quirke, 3rd Tadgh Horgan, 4th Pat Hayes & 5th Gerry O’ Farrell. 

Camogie
Training this week at the earlier time of 6.45pm at Midleton GAA Club.  Training will change to the weekend in the coming weeks, further details to follow.

Lotto
Jackpot was €7,000, the numbers were 9,13,23&24 ,there was no winner, the Lucky dip winners were Maurice Maloney, Kien Mc Carthy, Eddie Coleman, Kieran O’Shea and John Paul O’Brien, many thanks for your continued support. Next weeks Jackpot will be €7,200. Tickets are on sale at the Club Bar, O ‘Neills Bar, Linehans Bar, Maple Leaf Bar, O’ Farrells Butchers, Frank Murphy Butchers, Pat Walsh Paints & Chadwicks. The Lotto draw takes place each Friday in the Club.  

BINGO for all every Friday night in the GAA Pavilion from 8pm, guaranteed Jackpot of 1,000 euro!!

Juvenile Notes

Registration for Beginner’s
Last Saturday we held our Junior Infants registration at the Club house, it was great to see all the new Magpies joining the club for what will be a fantastic journey in their sporting careers. Any boy in Junior infants that was unable to attend the registration can contact Cormac Quirke on 0860783365 or register on the morning the training starts on Saturday November the 8th from 12 to 1 at Midleton Community Centre.(The Gaelscoil).On the morning please bring a Helmet, runners and €2  ,Indoor hurley’s will be used at each session.

Davy Hogan Street Leagues
The Davy Hogan Street Leagues final kindly sponsored by Market Green Shopping Centre takes place on Saturday next the 11th of October.

Fe12
Our hurlers travelled to the home of the All Ireland champions Kilkenny last Saturday when they participated in a great blitz hosted by Danesfort. Over the course of three games our lads really performed well, we lost to Dunamaggin by 2-08 v1-07, we defeated Glenmore by 3-09 v 1-03 and Young Irelands by 3-08 v 0-02. Thanks to the hosts for a great day out and the fabulous hospitality shown to us.
Our next game is on Saturday 11th v Inniscarra in the Premier 2 Football league at home in the main pitch @ 5.15pm.
 
Fe15
The hurlers had a fine victory in the Rebel Og Premier 1 Hurling Championship quarter final game v Ballincollig last Saturday by 2-15 to 1-07, they now await the winners of Sars and Duhallow in the semi final. 

Juvenile Training
The training and coffee mornings are back on Saturday mornings at the Main Pitch at the normal times for each group. FE13,12 and 11’s from 09.45 to 11, FE9,8 and 7’s from 11 to 12 and FE10 and 6’s from 12 to 1.
