Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

Senior Hurling
In the REDFM Senior Hurling League semi final last Thursday night in CIT our hurlers lost to Na Piarsaigh after a very close game. Despite being short a number of players the lads acquitted themselves very well and can feel very proud of their efforts. Final score Midleton 1-12 v Na Piarsaigh 2-11.
Team: Tommy Wallace, Killian Burke, Aylwin Kearney, Patrick O Mahony, Seamus O Farrell, Peter Dowling, James Nagle, Eoin Walsh, Paul Haughney, Padraig O Shea, Aidan Ryan, Padraig O Keeffe, Cormac Walsh, Kieran Mulcahy & Declan Ryan. Sub used Elliot Mulcahy
Well done to all the players, management and back room staff for their great commitment and dedication to the Club in the past year and we wish you are your family’s a very happy Christmas. 

Chirstmas Lights & UDC Civic Reception
Last Friday night our senior hurlers were given the honour of switching on the Xmas tree lights. Before a large crowd which also saw the opening of the Xmas market, captain Padraig O Shea flicked the switch to light up the impressive tree at the top of the town. Later that evening the panel of players, selectors and club officers attended a civic reception at the UDC offices in the Youghal Rd were Mayor of Midleton and past club chairman Niall O Neill made a presentation to team captain Padraig O' Shea. Light refreshments were served and the night was completed with songs from the famous "bagmen" Donie, Gavin, Paul and Mick " Bonzo" Tobin.The club would like to thank the office for the reception and thank Joe Mc Carthy, Mary Woods, Betty Wall and Sean Buckley for attending.  

Junior C Hurling Final
Our Junior C Hurlers are due to play the East Cork Final on Saturday next 7th December against Cobh time and venue are yet to be decided. We wish Gavin, Mick & Ger the very best in their pursuit for the three in a row.

Club Calendar / Cork GAA Year Book
If you are looking for idea’s for Christmas gifts this year well then we may have a solution for you, in the next number of days we will have a Club Calendar and the Cork Year Book for sale which will feature many pictures of our teams and players.
These will be on sale at the Bar and Club Shop later this week. 

Hurling & Football AGM
Our annual AGM will take on Sunday the 15th of December in the GAA Club @ 2pm

Denis O Sullivan’s GAA Memorabilia Exhibition
On Saturday the 7th of December from 7pm to 11pm Denis O Sullivan from Ballynoe will bring his very extensive collection of GAA memorabilia to the Midleton GAA Club. Denis will put on display his fantastic collection of Photographs including Hurling & Camogie teams from all grades and from all corners of the country. Denis will also put on display another collection on the Cork Hurling Legend Christy Ring.
As the years pass by Denis has expanded his collection to include Radio recordings of Hurling and Camogie matches. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to listen to these recordings by legendary broadcasters Micheal O Hehir, Micheal O Muircheartaigh, John Cashman and Paudie Palmer. Admission is free and everybody is welcome.

Juvenile Notes

Fe15
Last Saturday in Mitchelstown our footballers lost out to the home side in the Premier 2 Football championship.

Juvenile AGM
The annual Juvenile AGM will take in the Midleton GAA Club on Monday the 2nd of December at 8pm, all members are invited to attend.

Christmas Draw and Social
Our annual Christmas tickets are on sale at the moment and are a vital source of finance to the club each year; tickets are available from the Club bar and all officers.
The draw will take place on the 14th in conjunction with the Juvenile Social in the GAA Club, more details will follow soon.

Street League Indoor Hurling
Each Saturday morning at the Community Centre, coaching for boys will continue right up to Christmas and new members are always very welcome. The times are as follows: Junior Infants 12 – 1pm, Senior Infants 11-12 & First Class 10-11am.

Club Gear
The Club shop is open each Saturday morning from 11am to 12, a full selection of gear is available with umbrellas and school bags added to the range. Anyone looking for Christmas presents can also buy gift vouchers from the club shop. Full price lists are available on the club website www.midletongaa.com
