Senior Hurling Semi Final
Midleton 0-10 Carrigtwohill 1-10
So near and yet so far. Midleton Senior hurlers came up short in their effort to reach a first county final in 17 years when we went down by a goal to our neighbours Carrigtwohill on Sunday last. We played against the wind in the first half and coming up to half time were happy to be trailing by just a point in the circumstances. However we conceded a disappointing goal and a Sean Hennessy point meant we trailed by three at the short whistle, 1-07 to 0-07. We failed to kick on for the second half and an outstanding rear guard action by our opponents meant we never got the scores that were required to get our noses in front. In the end a goal separated the sides but a return of three points by us in the second half with the wind was never going to be enough. It is a tough defeat for this young team but it is one their supporters believe will only make them stronger in the future. It is only right that we acknowledge the hard work put in by the players and their mentors this year that led to them reaching a county semi final. A big thank you to all our supporters, young and not so young, who came along to support the lads, it was much appreciated. Finally our best wishes to Carrigtwohill in the final, that they may maintain the proud record of East Cork clubs in senior finals over the last number of years.

Fe 11
We hosted Valley Rovers for our first league match after the summer break, the games were played in great spirit and some very good hurling all round.
On the day we managed to win 3 matches and lost by a single point in the fourth game, all the boys tried hard and gave a huge effort Midleton 1 had Ronan lynch playing his heart out with some great hooking and blocking in defence  and on Midleton 2 Ross O’Reagan and Jake Shanahan played to his high standards and covered ever inch of the pitch in his games .
The Panel  on the day was
Mark Daly, Ciaran Evans, Kian Farmer, Niall Higgins, Cormac Hill, Harry Holohan, Griffin Hurley,  Ronan Lynch,  Ryan O’Riordan, Cormac O’Brien, Adam O’Connell, Tommy O’Connell, Ross O’Regan, Adam O’Riordan, Colin Oedegbe, Babatunde Olotu Jubril, Alan Power, Coleman Quinn, Liam Ryan, David Scanlon, Ross Shanahan, Jake Shannahan,  Fergus Wade  and Scott Wolohan,
Over the last 3 weeks we have had a few challenge games which have been good for the boys who were able to make the trips we were away to Cashel  and Kilt og
Both games were played in good spirit with both teams giving the all.
We  would like to thank our senior players for giving their time to take our training session, and I know the boys look forward to them coming back again.
We have a number of league matches over the next few weeks in both hurling and football We are to play St Finbarrs in football next weekend at 2 pm away ( to be confirmed) and then the following week in hurling at home  please keep a watch on texts messages and it would be appreciated by us if you can answer all text if your son will be there or if he cant make it. Also it is important to make all training sessions as our numbers have dropped off over the summer.
Fe 10
Midleton’s Fe 10 team had an away trip to Moyle Rovers outside Clonmel on Saturday 10th of September. The code was hurling and we travelled with 28 players. With games being the required 11 aside we were required to play a different team in each half in order to give game time to each lad. This said the players got on with it and hurled away. The conditions were fierce and the wind howled equally for each team. Our keeper was capable of pucking into the opposition square in one half and unable to pass half way in the other half.
The lads played well, their first and last games being their best. We met up with some physically stronger teams in a couple of games and our team were up against it but battled on.
It was great to finish with a win and made the trip home an enjoyable one for the kids.
Well done all who travelled.
Fe 9
On Saturday the 10th our fe9 hurlers headed for Roanmore for their yearly annual ground hurling charity blitz,120 teams took part in this fantastic blitz, teams from Waterford, Kilkenny, Galway, Wexford, Dublin and Cork .These matches are in groups of four teams and are seven aside matches, we had 25 players so we picked two teams with each team playing six matches each, the rules are ground hurling only with only the goalkeeper allowed to pick the ball up, these rules make all games very even with every player getting plenty of game time. Our teams did very well in both groups showing what fantastic and skilful games can be played with these rules. Team 1:Jack Fitzgerald, Jack Mckay, Evan Mccarthy, David Connolly, Darragh Crowley. Patrick kelly, James Coffey, Conor Fitzgerald, Brion Sanderson, Conor Hayes, Luke Deane, Rory, Lang..Team 2:Alex Pranger, Alex Quirke, Remierdie Tscmanga, Daniel O’Donovan, Charlie Walsh, Shane Newcombe, Aaron Coughlan, Oran Ryan, Bradley Savage, Oliver Murray, Jack O’Reagan, Kevin O’Brien, Daire Mooney. We left Midleton GAA at 12.15 and arrived home at 21.00,this blitz has been running 15 years now and every year it raises money for local charities. Also on the day our fe8 hurlers came with us so it turned out to be another fantastic trip. A big thank you to the Roanmore club for inviting us to this blitz again this year, our players and mentors are looking forward to next year already and also to the parents who travelled on the day for their continued support.

Fe 8
Midleton's Fe 8 hurlers traveled to the Roanmore 7-a-side Charity Hurling Blitz in Waterford City, last Saturday, 10th September. Twenty-five young Magpies traveled by bus to the Deise.

Midleton fielded two very strong panels for the blitz. The first game was an unexpected bonus because the group organised by Hartnett/Codd/Barry played the Smyth/O'Neill/Murray group. This cracking game turned out to be a draw that all spectators lucky to be there fully enjoyed. Subsequently, the Hartnett/Codd/Barry panel went on to play Cappoquin, O'Loughlin Gaels and Mooncoin. While the Smyth/O'Neill/Murray panel played De La Salle, Cappoquin , Mooncoin and Dunamaggin.
Congratulations to all concerned as all players contributed to a feast of hurling that was finished off late into the evening with a medal and some welcome refreshments.

Lotto
The Lotto since its introduction to our Club a number of years ago has been our main source of income and is crucial towards the upkeep and development of the club.
The Lotto draw takes place approximately 50 weeks of the year on each Friday night at the GAA Club.
The Jackpot begins at €1,200(our current Jackpot is €8,700) and increases weekly by €200, in the event of there being no winner we have 5 Lucky dips @ €40 each.
We believe that many club members would support the Lotto if there was a more convenient way of contributing other than €2 per week. In addition to the 5 week, 11 weekand Yearly tickets, we now have a Direct Debit facility available to those who would prefer to support the club in this manner.
For as little as €8 a month you will be entered in at least 50 draws, if you would like to support your club please contact any Club officer who will assist you in completing the form.

Midleton GAA Night at the Dogs in Curaheen Park Cork takes place on Saturday 1stOctober; tickets @ 20e per couple are now available from any Club officer.
