Midleton GAA notes 20th June 2011

20 June, 2011

Junior A Hurling Championship
Midleton v Lisgoold
Midleton Junior A hurlers were in Championship action on Saturday 18th in Dungourney. This was somewhat of a dour match with Lisgoold having the upper hand for much of the match. The wind on the night did not help but this said, hurling was not at its best on the night. Lisgoold led by a couple of of points and held this lead until late in the second half when Midleton levelled things with a goal. Final score at fulltime was 1-09 to 1-09. Extra time was required in this Championship match and Midleton were gaining the upper hand and were leading by a point  shortly into the restart when the match had to be abandoned due to a serious injury on the Lisgoold side. The match has been re-fixed for Tuesday evening 21st at 7.30pm again in Dungourney.

Fe 9
On Saturday the 18th our FE9 hurlers headed for Tracton to play in a blitz with St Finbarrs,Erins Own and the hosts Tracton. We travelled with 25 players so we had two even teams with the other teams having the same. There were 4 pitches made up on the main pitch with four matches going on at one time. What a sight this was with every player that travelled playing three full matches which were 10 mins aside.  All the games were played in great spirit with our lads doing very well in all matches. Thanks to Tracton for the refreshments after and inviting us to this very enjoyable and well run blitz and also the other clubs that took part. Our panel on the day was Daire Mooney, Luke Deane, Darragh Crowley, Jack Fitzgerald, Jack Mckay, Jack O Reagan, Alex Pranger, Alex Quirke, Aaron Coughlan, Rory Lang, Shane Newcombe, Charlie Walsh, Patrick Kelly, Mark O Connor, Oliver Murray, Kevin O Brien, Ben O Callaghan, Daniel O Donovan, Conor Fitzgerald, Thomas Mcgrath, Evan Mccarthy, Kyle Cullinane, Remierde, Leon Parkin, James Coffey.
