Midleton GAA notes 16th May 2011

Senior Hurling League
Midleton 2-14 Newtownshandrum 3-16
Our senior hurlers hosted Newtown on Monday evening last, 9th, in the league. In what was an entertainng came our visitors just held out to take the points. This was a much improved performance from Midleton as we continues our preparations for the championship. Both teams were short several players but overall both teams will have been happy with their respective performances.


Midleton 1-17 Glen Rovers 3-20
Our senior Hurlers played their second league game of the week on Saturday evening last. Unfortunately we came up short on the night against a more resolute Glen team. We have now played six league games and have a one win, one draw and four losses. We are in league action this coming Saturday evening, 21st when we host killeagh with a 7.30 throw in. Our Championship opener is scheduled for Friday June 10th against Bishopstown and the management team will be looking for a positive result in what will be one of our last games prior to it.

Junior A Hurling League
Midleton 0-19 Lisgoold 0-14
On Wednesday 11th we hosted neighbours Lisgoold in the cavanaghs of Fermoy sponsored Avondhu Imokilly Junior Hurling league. We came out as victors by 5 points on the night. This result gave our third victory from four games played. We are scheduled to host Buttevant this coming weekend in the league but that has to be confirmed.

Junior Hurling League Division 2
Midleton 2-11 Cloyne 3-12
Our Junior B hurlers faced Cloyne on Saturday evening last and went down by four points. This was our second game in the league and was our second loss.

Midleton home to Killeagh 7.30pm

Midleton Fe 10 hurling V Carrigaline
Midleton's Fe 10 hurlers continued their Tuesday night match run last Tuesday with a game at home against Carrigaline.
Midleton had a good turnout of 32 players outnumbering Carrigaline by 6 players leading to substitutes needing to be used. We played two even teams and each team played two 10 minute a side games against each Carrigaline team.
The Midleton lads were strong in both games and are showing improvement with each game played. Many thanks to Carrigaline for travelling and we hope to make a trip to them later in the year. We have a game coming up against Cobh next Tuesday evening and we train every Saturday at 9.45am.

FEILE PEIL – preparations are in place as we will be hosting the NEW YORK u14 Feile football team for this years competition which takes place in Cork on Thursday 30th June, Friday 1st July and Saturday 2nd July. We are competing in Division 2 along with Fr ONeills, Erins Own, New York and the Armagh champions, all of these games will take place at Fr O’Neills grounds in Ahavine.


VHI Cúl Camp – Saturday mornings in the GAA Club from 10am to 12 we will have the Booking forms available for our Cul Camp for boys which will be held from the 4th to the 8th of July, more details are available on the website or from coordinator Jim O Sullivan.

GOLF CLASSIC Our Juvenile GAA Golf Classic will take place on Thursday the21st and Friday 22nd of July at EAST CORKGOLF CLUB, the competition is a 3 ball scramble with some great prizes for allin addition to Ladies, Seniors and Non GUI team prizes.
Any Sponsorship isvery welcome, teams cost €120.00 each which includes a burger on the 9th, agoody bag, free entry into a draw and a meal afterwards and Sponsorship of TeeBoxes is also available @ €50.00 each.
Everybody iswelcome to attend the presentation of prizes in the clubhouse on the Fridaynight where entertainment will be provided.
