Midleton Hurling and Football, Ladies Football and Camogie Club Notes - August 1

IT'S CHAMPIONSHIP TIME AGAIN

It's that time of year again as our adult teams make their championship debuts for 2024.

First up on Saturday are our seniors who make the journey to Mourneabbey (home of Clyda Rovers) in North Cork to take on Charleville Premier Senior Hurlin Championship Round 1.

Best of luck to Micheál, Alywin, Padraig and all the players....

Next up are our Intermediate hurlers who travel to Ballynoe on Sunday at 1.30pm to take on Ballygiblin in the Co. Intermediate A Hurling Championship. Best of luck to Keith, Barry, Ian, Padraig and all the players.....

Then on Monday our Junior A Hurlers are in Cobh at 3pm to take on Sars. Best of luck to Steve and the lads....

 

JUVENILES 

FÉ12S

We had a busy morning of hurling last Sunday with both our MID1 and MID2 teams both playing at the same time in different venues.

Our MID1 players hosted Shandrum in St Colmans CC in the League.This was a thrilling game from start to finish where both teams gave it everything, our lads eventually came away with a win by two points. Final score: Midleton 0-14 Shandrum 1-9.

Our MID2 Players headed to Whitchurch on Sunday morning, in a very entertaining game our lads came out in top and won by four points. Well done to all and thanks to all the parents for making the trip to Whitchurch. Final score: Whitchurch 1-5 Midleton 3-3.

FÉ13S

It was another busy and successful week for our Fé13s hurlers. 

Our first team had an excellent 3-8 to 0-8 win over Blackrock. 

And our second team had two games as they overcame the challenge of Sarsfields on a final scoreline of 3-3 to 1-5 and Blackrock by 4-9 to 3-10.

 

FÉ14S

The Midleton U-14s who represented East Cork at the Tony Forrestal qualIfiers in Laois on Saturday. Dylan McInerney, Tomas O'Shea, Liam O'Sullivan, Tadhg O'Dowd, Conor McSharry, Eoghan Donovan and Michael O'Connor. Well done lads.

 

CAMOGIE

UNDER 11S

Well done to our U11s who hosted Sars, Bride Rovers and Fr. O’Neills last Saturday in Clonmult Memorial Park. They played great camogie in tough matches and their skills are improving with each and every game.

UNDER 13S

Our U13 girls had great fun enjoying a team building day at Ballyhass Lakes on Sunday. The girls really enjoyed themselves and big thanks to the coaches and mentors who organised it.

UNDER 17S

Huge congratulations to our U17s who won the U17 Imokilly Blitz in Castlelyons on Sunday. It was a great afternoon of camogie with Midleton running out winners against St. Catherine’s following playing Watergrasshill and Youghal in sweltering heat. Many thanks to Castlelyons for hosting.

 

LADIES FOOTBALL

UNDER 8S

Our Under 8s travelled to Lisgoold on Saturday morning for a blitz with Fermoy and Lisgoold. 

Our girls put in a brilliant effort. Well done to them all and a big thank you to Caoimhe and Robyn for helping out on the day.

UNDER 12S

Our U12 black team took on Inch Rovers on a glorious evening in Park South this week. Congrats to Niamh who captained the team. Well done to both teams. A tight game with Midleton just getting the win.

 

MAGPIES ALL STARS

The Magpies All Stars were well represented at the Cork GAA Cúl Camp in SuperValu Pairc Uí Chaoimh held last week. Great fun was had by all.

 

GAMES PROMOTION OFFICER

Midleton GAA One Club is seeking applications for a Games Promotion Officer. This is part funded by Cork GAA / Croke Park.

You might pass the attached onto any suitably qualified person, so that they might apply if they so wish.

MIDLETON GAA MONDAY CLUB

We will be back again on Monday, August 26 at 10.30am in our clubhouse in Clonmult Memorial Park. All welcome.

It kicks off at 7.30pn every Friday night and is over by 9pm. A single book is €6. A double book is €12.
