IN THE RED OF CORK

It was a busy week for our senior hurlers involved with Cork.

On Thursday night last Cork travelled to Tralee to take on Kerry in the Munster Hurling league and we had five players involved...Tommy O'Connell, Sam Quirke, Conor Lehane, Cormac Beausang (pictured above) and Sean O'Leary Hayes. Cork ran out comfortable winners on the night on a scoreline of 2-30 to 2-17. Conor and Cormac got 0-3 each and Tommy got a point.

Then on Tuesday it was the Cannon O'Brien Cup Final in the Mardyke as Cork took on UCC. We had four of the starting 15 for Cork, Sean, Tommy, Sam and Conor, while Brion Saunderson was in goals for UCC. Cork won the game on a scoreline of 0-25 to 1-15.

Cork are back in action on Sunday when they play Limerick in the Munster Hurling League in Pairc Ui Rinn at 2pm.

HARTY CUP

There was mixed fortunes for our club players in the Harty Cup quarter-finals. Both games came down to the last seconds but in the end it was victory for Midleton CBS over De La Salle in Fethard, while it was a narrow defeat for CBC against Cashel in Ballyagran.

Alex Moloney, Tiarnán Roche, Dara Scanlon, Carthaigh Cronin and Cathal Beausang were part of the CBS panel, while Mikey Finn and Davy Cremin were part of the CBC panel.

Well done to Midleton CBS and hard luck to CBC.

Pictured above is senior selector, Pat Walsh, who has kindly sponsored gear for the Midleton CBS panel. Pat won a Harty Cup with Midleton CBS in 1995.
