EAST CORK OIL JAHC
Our junior A hurlers got their East Cork Oil sponsored East Cork championship campaign underway in Rostellan on Monday night against neighbours Carrigtwohill.
The Magpies were fast out of the traps and points from Johnny Comer, Conor Fitzgerald, Mike Abernethy and Tim O’Sullivan had us 0-4 to 0-0 up after nine minutes.
By the end of the first quarter we were still four ahead, 0-5 to 0-1. Carrigtwohill really came back into the contest in the second quarter and by the sound of the half-time whistle our lead was down to two on a score of 0-8 to 0-6.
We started the second-half strongly and when Christian Daly struck for the game’s opening goal we were really on the front foot and by the end of the third quarter we led on a score of 1-14 to 0-8.
Back came Carrigtwohill with two goals in the final quarter but Conor Fitzgerald’s green flag settled the nerves and at the final whistle we were full value for our six point, 2-16 to 2-10, victory.
Scorers: C. Fitzgerald 1-6 (0-5 F), C. Daly 1-1, M. Abernethy 0-2, J. Comer, D. Cagney, A. Ryan, P. O’Shea, A. Daly, D. Cagney and T. O’Sullivan 0-1 each.
MIDLETON: Peter Dowling, Colin Sunderland, Charlie Walsh, Aaron Coughlan, Billy O’Shea, Aidan Ryan, Evan McCarthy, Adam Daly, Dan Cagney, Johnny Comer, Padraig O’Shea (Captain), Christian Daly, Tim O’Sullivan, Michael Abernethy, Conor Fitzgerald. Sub: Ian Kennefick for T. O’Sullivan.

JUVENILES
FÉ15 HURLING
The Fé15 hurlers made it two P1 Championship wins from two on Wednesday night at Clonmult Memorial Park when they proved far too strong for an understrength Bandon on a final scoreline of 4-24 to 0-9.
It was far from one-way traffic in the opening quarter with nothing between the teams. Goals from Peter Barrett and Josh Foley put Midleton well on their way to victory as they led at the half-time break on a score of 2-10 to 0-6.
The young Magpies were well on top in the second-half and ran out deserving winners.
Next up are Sarsfields in two weeks time to see who tops the group and receives a home semi-final tie.
MIDLETON: Conor Finn, Eoin Hurley, Lochlann Stewart, Eoin Ahern, Rian O‘Driscoll, Matthew McSweeney, Daragh Cronin, Sean Crowley, Cian Lawton, Josh Hogan, Josh Foley, Nicky Coughlan, Cian Stack, Mikey Pedley, Peter Barrett. Subs used: Senan and Max Murphy.
