Fe 15 D4 Hurling Championship V Ballincollig 25th July 2021

Midleton 6.17 Ballincollig 1.12

Sunday lunchtime in Ballincollig was more like the Sahara than Leeside.  Our lads put in a fantastic performance to get their second win in this championship.  Taking control early on we maintained our advantage to the final whistle but it was a tough match and our opponents were up for the battle, it was ultimately a great team effort and the players that made the trip to Mid Cork deserve great credit.  Jack and Josh Foley, Sean Crowley, Darragh Cronin, Conor Finn, Ben Fitzpatrick and Ohdran Dennigen were just some of the stand-out performers.  Next up is Douglas.

Fe 15 D1 Football Championship V Glenville 29th July 2021

Midleton 3.10 Glenville 0.06

Conditions in Glenville for our championship clash with the locals were a bit challenging.  A wet night with a distinct drop in the recent high temperatures along with high winds.  Nevertheless our lads settled early and took the game to Glenville.   It was another excellent team performance, goals from the impressive Paddy Walsh and Captain Callum O’Brien were just rewards for their efforts.  Carthaigh Cronin, Jack Foley, Daragh Egan, Conor Morley and Thomas Dunlea were very good in an impressive display of attacking football.  That’s two wins in the championship so far.  Well done lads.

Fe15 v Glenville

Fe15 C3 League V Nemo Rangers 4th August 2021

Midleton 4.10 Nemo Rangers 1.10

Our trip to Trabeg to take on Nemo proved to be a very lively affair.  Two evenly matched teams put on a fine display on a perfect surface for hurling.  Some excellent defending by man of the match Shane Mc Namara kept a dangerous Nemo attacking unit frustrated, time after time he blocked goal bound shots and delivered huge clearances.  Alex Cahill was also in top form with a no nonsense approach to defending. In attack Callum Deegan was tormenting his markers and delivered some fine scores.   Ryan Fitzsimon, Ben Troy and Rory Hines were also in fine form in a well-deserved victory.

Camogie Notes

Fé 9/10 Notes

It’s Been a busy and developing summer for the Midleton Camogie Fe 9/10 Team. The heat wave couldn’t keep these competitive girls off the pitch during the month of July, and the coaches are very proud of all the progress that has been evident during each match. The team were away to Sarsfield Camogie on 4th July and also away to Killeagh on the 11th. We welcomed Carrigtwohill on the 18th of July for a home game and lastly away to Castlemartyr for our final match of a very busy month on the 25th of July. Well done girls looking forward to another month of Camogie during August.

The U12’s had great fun  and some down time after a very busy few weeks on the Camogie pitches . So on Saturday morning last 31st July, the girls and their mentors arrived down at Eco Adventures in Aghada  where they participated in kayaking, pier jumping, water trampolining and even  some crab fishing! Thank you to Eco Adventures for accommodating our group we will be back!

FE12 V St Finbarrs Challenge Match

Our U12’s travelled to Togher on Saturday afternoon 7th August for a challenge game with St Finbarrs ahead of the resumption of the league. A strong wind meant it was a game of two halves. The Barrs dominated the first half but our girls showed great character to battle back into it and we were well on top in the second half. Unfortunately our efforts fell just short, loosing out on a scoreline of 6:03 to 3:03. Well done to our Captain on the day Andrea Herbert who was excellent and captained the team very well.

FE16 League Quarter Final V Cloughduv

Despite our girls best efforts unfortunately we did not come away with a win when we travelled to Cloughduv on Friday 6th August. This was the Quarter Final of our League so our league campaign has come to an end. Well done girls for coming this far in the competition and we would like to wish you and your management team all the very best ahead of Championship Camogie next weekend Sunday 15th August against our neighbours Fr O Neills. Up the Magpies!

Cork U16A Notes

Cork U16 Munster and All Ireland Champions

Huge Congraulations to the Cork U16A Team, their management and their backroom team in what was an electric season for all especially so for our own Jill Connaughton who stood proudly in her Cork Jersey representing her Club and County. Jill made some great saves during the season including a penalty during the Semi Final securing them a coveted place in the All Ireland Camogie Finalv Kilkenny.

Again Jill took it all in her stride making a save in the final minutes to deny Kilkenny a win. Cork went on to finish the 2021 Season ,where again they came out true winners as they were crowned the Munster Champions after coming up against Tipperary. Great friendships and memories were made for this group of girls as we followed them up and down the country on their 2021 journey. Well done to all.
