Update on Park South

A lot going on at Park South.

  • Pitch 1 (closest to Youghal Rd): Sanded (150 tons), verti-drained, ‘top-dressed’, root enhanced and fertilized (slow release). Goal posts and nets ordered. Pitch ‘ready for action’ 4-6 weeks!!
  • Pitch 2: needs remedial work in places to enhance drainage (trenching & banding). Works to be carried out over next 6-8 weeks also to include similar 150 ton sanding, verti-draining and fertilization regime as Pitch 1. Goal posts and nets deferred until works completed so as to discourage ‘unofficial’ pitch usage. This pitch will be usable after an 8 week period if required but less usage will enhance the pitch medium term.
  • Middle Pitch (‘Slopey Pitch’) being cut and could serve as overflow training area if required.
  • Bio-Diversity works carried out by volunteers involving clean up of entrance and adjacent to driveway.
  • Works being planned for water, sewage and other services
  • 3G pitch still planned for Q4 start.
  • Significant work taking place on Finance & Fundraising front to make this a reality for the current and  future generations of Magpies
  • All these works taking place based on members volunteering their time and energy for the benefit of all club members. Míle Buíochas.

Fé8 Notes

We have had large numbers of Fé8 boys training in both hurling and football over the last few sessions, with all the boys showing great enthusiasm and their skills improving with each session. We would encourage all the parents to spend some time practicing with the boys at home between trainings. Thanks to all the coaches who turn up each week in all sorts of weather. Remember new players are always welcome. We will continue to train on Tuesday’s and Saturday’s for the next few weeks.

Fé13 Notes

The Midleton GAA Fé13 team continue their training in both hurling and football with all coaches and p

layers glad to be back in the field. There will be a number of Rebel Óg matches in both codes from early June, which everyone is looking forward to. At a recent training session, awards for 2020 that could not be presented earlier due to Covid restrictions were given to Dara Birdthistle and James Carey for their performances in 2020. Well done to both of the lads – very well deserved.

Fé14 Notes

On Tuesday night last, we finally got to present our Fé13 player of the year for 2020. This year’s recipient is Tiago Fleming. In the last three to four years, Tiago is a player who has worked extremely hard to improve his hurling. In that time, he has helped us to win a Fé12 C3 County championship and he is also ever present at training. He continues to listen and is always striding to improve his game. This is a well-deserved award and I’m sure Tiago will be a prominent player for Midleton GAA club for many years to come. Well done again Tiago. Magpies ABÚ.
