Park South Development

Earlier this year we held an information night for all members and provided you a briefing on our clubs new development in Park South. Well since then work has moved quickly on and the shape of our new grounds is starting to show.

Over the next 18 months we will need to raise over €200,000.00 in order to fund this new facility. We launched our donation scheme and every member should now have a copy of the development brochure and donation information. I would like to thank everybody who has already returned completed donation forms to us and wish to remind all others that these forms can be returned to any member of the fundraising committee. The development is expensive, and we do need everybody to pitch in and help as they can.

Starting from this Saturday and every Saturday going forward the fundraising committee will have an information table in the lounge at Midleton GAA Club 10.00am and 1.00pm. We will be there to answer any queries you may have with respect to the development and donation and events. So please call over and join us for a coffee or a tea. For those who want to, club lotto tickets will also be available.

We also hope to have plenty of fun events taking place for all of the family over the next 18 months including :“A Poster competition” , The Great Crane Ball Drop” , “Table Quiz” , “Cookery Demonstrations” to name a few. We will keep you informed of all of these events and keep you up to date on our development through regular updates such as this.

For your enjoyment we have attached here a link to the latest video of the works carried out.

So thanks to all the parents and coaches for attending. We will continue to do Hurling Training every Saturday morning from 10am-11am on the main pitch.

Fé12

We had two Eastern Football league games in the last week. Both games were played in very testing conditions. First up we played Whitechurch, where we came away with a 5-07 to 1-06 victory. On the night there was very good performances from Cian Stack, Conor Bennett, Noah Cahill, Captain Miah McGrath and the hard working Patrick O Dowd. On Friday evening last we travelled to Whitescross where we came out on the wrong end of 4-07 to 4-05 defeat. Again, the conditions were horrendous, despite this we played some good football. We are competitive in every game which is great for us to see. Hurling training continues this Tues 6 - 7 in the Tech Field.

Fé16

On Monday last our Lads travelled to Cobh to take on Sarsfield in the Quarter final of the Championship. We settled very well and went in a half time with the score being Midleton 1-05 Sarsfield 0-10. With the aid of a strong wind in the second half we used this to our advantage. Final score Midleton 4-17 Sarsfield 2-14. We now face St Finbarrs in the semi final. Time and venue for this match tbc.

Camogie

U7/8: On Saturday morning we were invited to play a challenge match against Castlemartyr, in blustery but dry conditions. 22 players togged out for the 2 games, both of which turned out to be very competitive. The girls made a fabulous effort throughout the morning, putting their training into effect which was evident for all the parents and coaches to see. Well done to all involved. The Go-Games start next Saturday 17th Aug at 12.30 and are being hosted by Carrigtwohill. Training as usual on Friday at 6pm.

Congratulations to Aoife Fitzgerald and the Cork U14 panel at last weekends Kilkenny blitz. Aoife’s group won their group against Offaly & Kilkenny. After winning their quarter final there was no time to catch their breath as it was straight on to the final! Unfortunately this was the end of their winning streak and after putting in great effort they lost out the final to Galway. Well done to all involved.

Next up are our U15 girls v Erin’s own , throw in at 7pm in Ballinacurra come along to support the girls also our U16’s are in action against Mallow ,again in Ballinacurra, throw in at 7.30. Match reports and results will be available on our Facebook page or follow us on Facebook and Twitter .
