Camogie
We welcomed 114 girls between the age of  6 and 12 from  clubs  across the county last week for  the Cork Camogie Summer Camp held in Midleton.
Organised and Co-ordinated by Munster Development  Officer Ross Corbett and supported by Midleton Camogie Club committee the 3 day camp proved to be a great success. Joining our own girls were players from Killeagh, Fr O’Neills, Castlemartyr, Dungourney,  Carrigtwohill, Erins Own, Bride Rovers, Carrigaline,  Tracton, Castlelyons, and Watergrasshill,  while all the girls enjoyed some friendly banter the diversity greatly enhanced the success of the camp.
Over 3 days the girl’s at all levels  were  facilitated to develop their camogie  skills  and  techniques  as individuals and as team ,  while having fun and making  new friends,  thanks to the expert level of coaching provided by Laura Treacy, , Caleigh Boland, Niamh O ‘Keefe, Ciara Dixey , Midletons own Tommy Wallace and Darren Quirke assisting  coaches Clodagh Finn & Rebecca Cassidy.
Thanks to Ross Corbett, to the coaches and helpers, to Midleton GAA for the use of the facilities to the parents and most especially to the 114 girls whose engagement and energy and enthusiasm made the camp the occasion it was.
Training continues on Friday evenings for all age groups at Midleton GAA   GAA club 7.15pm – 8.15pm and also on Tuesday evenings for the older groups.  New players at all age groups welcome.  Enq; 087 6822916.  Follow us on face book: Midleton Camogie.

Ladies Football
Over 60 girls and boys attended our annual Summer Camp which was held in Midleton GAA Club on Monday 20th & Tuesday 21st of July last.  The weather was good and the kids were very enthusiastic they wanted to get going as soon as they could.  The warm-up, drills and matches would exhaust any senior player but not this group of children as they wanted to do more and were very disappointed when the camp finished each day. They are all eagerly looking forward to next year!
Midleton Ladies Football would like to thank Midleton GAA Club for the use of their facilities especially Gavin and Ger for their help.  Also many thanks to Tracy, Ber, Mairead, Marcella and Vincent who gave of their time very willingly. Thanks to Molly, Deirdre, Clodagh, Aine and Brion who helped Aidan on both days.
A special word of thanks has to go to Aidan d’Ardis without whom we could not have run such a successful camp. Adian taught the children new skills which have already been used on the playing field.  Aidan’s skill, patience and sense of fun contributed to a great couple of days.  So again Aidan thanks a million from all at Midleton Ladies Football. Keep an eye on Midleton News and the East Cork Journal for photos taken on the days.
Midleton Ladies Football U10 V Cobh
Yet again we were treated to a spectacular display of ladies football last Monday night. Our U10 ladies lined out against Cloyne for a thrilling and closely contested game. Both teams were eager and well up for what proved to be a fantastic evening of football, take a bow girls. We were entertained with outstanding scores, points sailing over the bar from difficult angles despite a strong breeze.  The Gooch will be coming to Midleton to get some lessons from these young magpies, their goal scoring was superbly accurate. They kept the scoreboard ticking over, battled bravely, and chased down every ball. Well done girls. In goal Amy Murray was cool under pressure, with her long range kick outs. Our forwards Róisín Crotty, Isabelle Nestor and Lily Kelly were set up to pick off some great scores. In defence Rachel O'Meara, Sadhbh Hartnett and Aoife Fitzgerald never stopped working tirelessly to clear the danger area of any threat from the opposition. Midfield likewise worked very hard all night, Gráinne Finn and Ashling Mc Carthy making breaks, to surge through the Cloyne defence and consistently pick off points. A real can do attitude saw Saoirse Tagney and Ellen O'Neill keep the magpies in the game, gaining possession and turning for goal. We look forward to more entertaining games of this standard in the coming weeks as we have three more league games left to play. Míle buíochas to Lily Kelly who played with us on Monday night. Onwards and upwards girls.
