Midleton GAA , Camogie & Ladies Football Club News

Junior Hurling
Our Junior A hurlers had two very good victory’s in the County Junior Hurling League last week, on Monday evening we defeated Blarney at home by 2-14 to 0-07 and on Friday away to Ballinora we defeated our hosts by 2-16 to 1-05.
Team v Blarney: Joe Loftus, David Hogan, Eoin Ferriter, Luke Dineen, Darren Quirke, Peter Dowling, Padraig O’Farrell, Shane Ryan, Padraig O’Keeffe, Leslie Coughlan, Niall Walsh, Padraic Nagle, Cormac Beausang, Declan Ryan & Michael Abernethy. Subs used Luke Finnerty & Bryan Rossiter.
Team v Ballinora: Joe Loftus, Billy O’Shea, Eoin Ferriter, Liam Clohessy, Darren Quirke, Finbar O’Mahony, Luke Dineen, Cormac Beausang, Peter Dowling, Padraic Nagle, Shane Ryan, Leslie Coughlan, Michael Abernethy, Declan Ryan & Mark O’Keeffe. Subs used Paul Barry, Sean O’Meara, Brendan Ferriter, Niall Walsh and David Hogan. 
We now completed our campaign in this League and with five wins and a one draw we now play Mayfield in the final.
In the East Cork Championship we now meet Cobh in the next round.     

Minor Hurling
Our hurlers had an excellent victory over Aghada last in Thursday evening at home in the Premier 2 League on a score of 3-20 to 1-14.
Team: Tommy O’Connell, Luke Smith, Adam Daly, Cathal Gunning, Eoin Maloney, Kevin Mulcahy, Sean O’Meara, Sean O’Leary Hayes, Shane Finn, Padraig O’Brien (1-02), Cormac Beausang (0-09 5 free’s), Garan Manley (0-05), Luke Finnerty (0-02), Christopher Power (0-01) & Conor O’Neill. Subs used Ryan O’Regan (0-01), Christian Daly, James O’Brien, Eoin Mitchell and Jack Enright (1-00).  
The provisional dates for Championship games are the 15th Football and 22nd Hurling both against Valley Rovers.

Inter County 
Hard luck to Seanaidh Smyth and Pat Hartnett (Selector) who lost out very narrowly with the Cork Minor hurlers against Limerick in the Munster semi final last Thursday evening in Limerick. 
Congrats to Conor Lehane who gave a Man of the Match performance scoring 1-06 and to the Cork Senior hurlers who defeated Wexford last Saturday evening in Wexford in the All Ireland Qualifier first round by 2-22 to 0-20. They now advance to round two next Saturday against Dublin or Clare.

Championship Games
Many thanks to all those who helped out last Sunday evening for the East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship game between Cobh & Youghal which Cobh won.
On Saturday week the 18th help again will be required when we host Carrigtwohill v Killeagh in the Senior Hurling Championship.

Golf 
Our annual Juvenile Golf Classic takes place on Wednesday and Thursday this week at East Cork Golf Club. Thanks to all those who have supported us, everybody is welcome to attend the prize giving on Thursday evening in the Golf Club between 9.30 and 10pm.   

Camogie 
Midleton GAA will play host to a Summer Camogie Camp from 22nd -  24th   July, 10am to 2pm.

New Jersey’s for Midleton Camogie Club 
Midleton Camogie sponsor Michael Carroll MRIAI presented Under 12 coach and club secretary Darina Foley with a set of Jerseys for the under 12 & 13 teams. 
The club is very grateful for the support and the girls look forward to wearing their new jerseys with pride. 
Midleton based Architect Michael Carroll is a registered member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI), with over 20 years’ experience in the design and construction industry. Michael initially graduated from Cork Institute of Technology and subsequently from Oxford Brookes University in the UK. A former associate in a Dublin based architectural practice, Michael has been involved in a range of medium to large scale projects including residential, office and hotel developments.  A native of Offaly, Michael relocated with his family to Midleton in 2011. He works with clients where his experience and technical knowledge in integrating functionality with high quality design and sustainability are crucial to their architectural requirements. Michael offers a comprehensive design service from formulation of the brief and detailed design drawings through to site inspections and full RIAI certification. In 2013 Michael was chosen to participate in the National Architects in Schools initiative by the Irish Architecture Foundation, and regularly provides students with firsthand experience of the design process. Michael also voluntarily delivers architecture workshops to transition year students in a number of local secondary schools. A member of Midleton GAA club, Michael is also involved in the underage coaching of the u-7’s group.

Ladies Football
Our Annual Football Camp will be held in Midleton GAA Club on July 20 and 21st. It is open to boys and girls. It will run from 10am to 1pm each day. The cost is €10 per day and your child can attend one or both days. Please contact Tracy on 087-6625544 for more details or text your Childs name and age to the Club Phone on 087-3481925 to book a place. 
Midleton U14 girls were invited to play in a blitz hosted by Lisgoold on Saturday 27th last.  The girls played some fantastic football winning 2 of our 3 games.  Unfortunately Youghal beat us in the third game and Youghal then went on to beat Cloyne in the final. Some of our girls picked up injuries we wish them a speedy recovery.  Midleton Ladies Football would like to thank Lisgoold/Lemlara Ladies Football for their hospitality on the day.
Our Match results on the day were as follows:
Match 1 v Ligoold/Leamlara: 0-1 to 4-05 (Midleton Win)
Match 2 v St Colemans : 2-04 to 2-00 ( Midleton Win)
Match 3 v Youghal: 1-01 to 2-02 ( Youghal Win).
Our Junior team had their first outing on Wed July 1st at St Colman’s Community College in their first round which saw them lose out to St Val’s. A hard fought game girls. Keep up the great work being put in at training. 
Training continues for all ages at Midleton Rugby Club on Mondays nights @ 6.30. 

Lotto
Our Lotto Jackpot was €3,000, we had no winner, the numbers were 17, 18, 20 & 22, the Lucky Dips winners were Margaret Murphy, Rose Herlihy, Sasha Hallissey, Catherine Gaffney & Jim O’Sullivan, next week’s Jackpot will be €3,200. 
The Lotto draw takes place each Friday in the Club. Tickets are on sale at the Club Bar, O ‘Neills Bar, Linehans Bar, Maple Leaf Bar, O’ Farrells Butchers, Frank Murphy Butchers, Pat Walsh Paints, Chadwicks, Teach Beag & Niall Mac’s Bars.

BINGO takes place each Friday night in the GAA Pavilion from 8pm, guaranteed Jackpot of 1,000 euro!!

Kellogs Cúl Camp
We had a great turnout for our Cúl Camp all last week, with a crowd of 200 young boys. Well done to Pa Beausang who was the Camp coordinator on a job very well done and thanks to all the people who helped out over the course of the week.

Outdoor Training
Training for all the Street League groups takes place each Saturday morning at the MAIN PITCH and will continue over the coming months.
