Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

Club Development Open Meeting
Last Thursday night a great crowd of almost 120 people attended our Public Meeting at the Club Pavilion. This meeting was organised by the Club Steering Committee with the assistance of the County Board Development Officer Michael Byrne and Board Facilitator Jim Hanley. Chairman of the Hurling & Football Club Liam Ryan welcomed everybody, then Mark Walsh Steering Committee Chairman addressed the meeting outling the agenda for the evening. A very informative Power Point presentation was displayed throughout the evening on a large screen. Each group discussed a number of topics and all the feedback was recorded. Five Focus Groups will be set up in the coming weeks to evaluate this information which will then be utilised later in the Club Plan.   Many thanks to everybody who attended and contributed to this meeting.

Fe 15
Played in sunny conditions on Sunday morning Midleton & NaPiarsaigh Under 15 Footballers played an entertaining draw in this first round of the Premier 1 Football League 3-09 v 3-09. The game opened brightly for Midleton who had 3 points on the board before Na Piarsaig opened their account with a point, shortly after this Na Piarsaig scored a goal direct from a 45 meter kick. Midleton though played with great determination and scored a great goal midway through the half. At the short whistle our lads were ahead 1-6 to 1-4 and were now turning to play against the slight breeze for the second half. Again Midleton were first out of the blocks in the second half and scored 1-1 in the first 3 minutes of the half. Midway through the half Midleton were ahead 3-9 to 1-6. In fairness to NaPiarsaigh they never gave up and got their reward with two goals. With time almost up Na Piarsaigh had the momentum with them and from a 45, the ball was fisted over the bar to earn them a deserved draw. This was a great first outing for this group of Midleton players who play in the Premier 1 Football grade for the first time.
