Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

 
Junior B Hurling Championship
Last Saturday evening in Dungourney we were beaten in the first round of the Championship, despite having a numerical advantage for most of the second half we failed to push on and ran out losers on a score line of 1-10 v 2-10
Team: Coran Swayne, Jack Enright, Colm Leahy, Joe Collins, Brendan Ferriter, Dave Hogan, Kevin Rohan, Luke Finnerty, Mark O Keeffe, Killian Hurley, Kieran Maloney, Keith Ryan, Willie O Brien, Paul Barry & David O Brien. Sub used Kevin Mc Sweeney.  

Munster Senior Hurling Final
Congratulations to Conor Lehane on his wonderful performance last Sunday in Corks great victory over Limerick at Pairc Ui Chaoimh scoring 5 fantastic points, also to Killian Burke who was part of the panel and to Luke O Farrell, Paul Haughney and Brian Hartnett who were all part of the extended panel. They now look forward to the All Ireland semi final on the 17th of August.

Condolences
The Executive of the Hurling & Football club would like to offer their sincere condolences to the family of the late Stacey Dunlea. The Dunlea family are fantastic supporters of the Club and this was acknowledged by the huge turnout of players and officers who performed a guard of honour at both the removal and funeral.
         
Camogie
Training for all groups Fé8,  Fé10, Fé12 every  Friday 7.15pm at Midleton GAA club, new members are always welcome.  Anyone wishing to register may do so at the beginning of any training session, registration forms and details available on the Midleton GAA website.  Players are required to bring Hurley, helmet, shin guards and a drink to each training session. Gaa Golf Classic
Our Golf Classic took place last Wednesday and Thursday, kindly sponsored by Blackwater Motors Cork, Fermoy & Skibbereen at East Cork Golf Club.
We had fantastic support with 100 teams participating for 40 odd prizes. There was great value with a goody bag, a burger on the 9th from Timmy, “Puppy” Powers Bookmaker and food afterwards.
Juvenile Chairman Cormac Quirke before presenting the prizes thanked all the participating teams, sponsors, officers and players for their support over the two days. He also thanked Maurice Maloney and his staff for the wonderful hospitality shown to the club over the course of the event. The main prize winners were as follows;
1st Overall - Dave , Cian & Lochlinn Mc Carthy, 2nd – Pat Kelly Servicing Team  - Michael, Eoghan & Patrick Collins, 3rd – East Cork Golf Club – Paul Cashman, John Morrisson & Ross Keohane.Mixed Team – Ciaran Goldspring, James & Tricia Murray, Ladies Team – Mary B Walsh, Valerie Mc Carthy & Carol O Riordan
Seniors Team – Sean Murphy, Eamon Mc Sweeney & Christy O Sullivan.


Lotto Jackpot was €4,600 the no’s were 4, 7, 10 & 11 there was no winner, the Lucky dip winners were Shiela Cox, Rosie Tynan, Bridie O Sullivan, Will Hodnett & Teresa Lawton,  next week’s Jackpot is €4,800 thanks for your continued support. Tickets are on sale at the Club Bar, O ‘Neills Bar, Linehans Bar, Maple Leaf Bar, O’ Farrells Butchers, Frank Murphy Butchers, Pat Walsh Paints & Chadwicks. The Lotto draw takes place each Friday in the Club.  

BINGO for all every Friday night in the GAA Pavilion from 8pm, guaranteed Jackpot of 1,000 euro!!

Juvenile Notes


Fe12
On Monday last our FE12 hurlers travelled to Croke Park to play in a blitz and took in the tour of the Stadium and Museum. We left the club early on Monday morning and spent most of the day in Croke Park , afterwards we travelled to Naas on the way home to play a number of challenge games against the home club. This day out wwas a great opportunity for our young Magpies to play in Croke Park and a memory that will last forever.

Fe16
Our hurlers had a good victory last Friday evening over Na Piarsaigh in the Rebel  Og Premier 1 Championship in Passage, they now advance to the next round when they will play Blackrock.

The Lenovo GAA Skills Hub is a nationally co-ordinated Gaelic Games programme of skill development activities taking place in a positive playing environment, providing boys and girls aged 13 -15 with the opportunity to derive maximum enjoyment from their involvement in Gaelic Games.
It will take place in Midleton on the 5th to the 8th of August costing only €50

Juvenile Training
The training and coffee mornings are back on Saturday mornings at the Main Pitch at the normal times for each group. FE13,12 and 11’s from 09.45 to 11, FE9,8 and 7’s from 11 to 12 and FE10 and 6’s from 12 to 1.

Club Shop
The Club shop is open each Saturday from 11am to 12, a full selection of gear is available. Anyone looking for Birthday presents can also buy gift vouchers from the club shop. Full price lists are available on the club website www.midletongaa.com
