Juvenile Notes

Fe 11
On a perfect evening for hurling our U11 hurlers travelled to Riverstown on, Wednesday 21st of May, to take on the challenge of the Sars U11s. The pitch at Riverstown was in immaculate condition for the two games and this was complemented by the sun shining for the duration of the matches. Both games were 13-a-side and all was ready for the throw-ins at 7:15pm. From the start the standard of hurling and the commitment in both games was unbelievable; I had not seen a standard as high as this from our Fe11s before. All of the players had to work very hard even to get a shot-in. Tough but fair tackling, ground hurling and fair play were the most dominant things on display. By the end of the games Midleton held out to win one game while Sars won the other. This was probably a just reflection on the evening’s proceedings.

Glanmire travelled to play our Fe 11 Gaelic Footballers last Tuesday evening, 27th of May, at the Tech field. We were unbeaten going into this brace of fixtures so our confidence was sky high. Glanmire had just come out of a blitz held on the previous Saturday in Clonakilty. As has been routine so far this year the fixture consisted of two matches of 13-a-side. The two games had contrasting starts. In the first game we completely dominated possession for the first ten minutes but we failed to register a score. In the second game Glanmire raced into a two goal lead. Back to the first game and after the first 10 minutes had elapsed Glanmire had their first attack and they scored a point. Both games followed the patterns of the first ten minutes for the remainder of the matches.
Unfortunately by the time the final whistles were blown we were behind in both games and on the night there were no complaints. We will regroup and be back even stronger as a result of this pair of games.
