Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

Junior Hurling
On Sunday morning last our Junior hurlers got their Imokilly/Avondhu League campaign off to a start against Dungourney in Midleton. Despite a gallant effort by our lads the visitors were far more clinical with their scoring chances and in the end we lost out on a score line of 0-09 to 0-18.
Team: Joe Loftus, Eoin Ferriter, Oisin Cotter, Liam Clohessy, Eoin Walsh, Padraig O Farrell, Shane Ryan, Leslie Coughlan, Sean O Farrell, Keith Ryan, Padraig O Keeffe, Padraig Nagle, Mark O Keeffe, Stephen Moore & Brian O Sullivan. Subs used Robert Williams, Gavin Bagnell, Cormac Beausang and Gavin Hurley.

March 22nd East Cork U21 A Football semi final v Glanmire @ 6.30pm in Sallybrook
March 30th Senior Hurling League v Bride Rovers away @ 12 
    
Allianz Hurling League
Last Sunday afternoon in Ballycastle, County Antrim the Cork hurlers had a tough win over Antrim coming from behind on the hour mark to win by 1-12 to 0-18, Conor Lehane scored 4 points, Brian Hartnett a point, Paul Haughney came on as a sub and also scored a point. Killian Burke made his debut as a late substitute. They play Wexford next Sunday in Pairc Ui Rinn @ 2pm. 

Healthy Club Project
What about our new walking and running groups!! Why not come along & join either our new walking or running group. It began last week and will continue each Wednesday @ 7.30pm, from the Midleton GAA club. Meet some new people; enjoy some outdoor exercise and best of all its FREE. 

Cardiac Screening
Please find details below of the Cardiac Screening jointly organised by Healthcare Screening Ireland and the Midleton GAA Healthy Club team.This is open to all members and non members of the club, participants under the age of 18 will require our consent form signed by a Parent or Guardian.Please note that it's limited to 40 people on the day, so early booking is advised.
Details of the Screening involves the following;
Health Questionnaire to assess family history & current state of health
Resting ECG Electrocardiogram, Medical Exam with a Doctor, Blood Pressure Measurement,Lung Function Test Spirometry Test, BMI Body Mass Index, Health Report,Reviewed by Consultant Cardiologist

Souvenir DVD’s
The DVD of the 1962, 1963 & 1988 Anniversary celebration’s held in the club on St Patrick’s night 2013 is now available at a cost of €25.  Also a fully re mastered 4 hour DVD of the 1988 All Ireland club final week end, including footage of the train journey as seen on YOU tube, is also available @ €30. Lotto
Lotto Jackpot was €1,200 no's were 9,12, 22 & 23, there was no winner, the Lucky dip winners were Denis Bulman, John Hennessy, Jo Crowley, Bernadette Mc Grath & Frank Quinlan, Next week’s Jackpot is €1,400, thanks for your continued support.

Juvenile Notes

Fe11
Our Footballers had a good outing recently against Kiltha Og in Castlemartyr.

 

Fe12
Our Central 3 Footballers lost heavily to Inniscarra and our Premier 2 Footballers received a walkover from Eire Og.

Fe13
On Saturday the 15th our FE13 Footballers travelled to Inniscarra to play our second P2 League game. On a beautiful day for a game we ran out comfortable winners in the end. We now have a win and a draw in the league with the football taking a break until May. The Hurling starts on the 29th away to Ballincollig (fixture to be confirmed).Training this THURSDAY at Midleton Hockey Pitch 6 to 7.    

Street League Indoor Hurling
Saturday morning’s at the Community Centre, coaching for boys continues and new members are always very welcome. The times and dates are as follows: Junior Infants from 12 – 1pm, Senior Infants 11-12 & First Class 10-11am.
 

 

Juvenile Flag Day
Our annual Juvenile Flag Day at Hurley’s Super Valu will take place on Saturday 19th of April from 9am to 6pm, help on the day would be greatly appreciated.

Easter Camp
This year’s Easter Camp will be on Thursday April 24th and Friday April 25th at the Main Pitch. All Registered players from Junior infants upwards can take part in the camp. Similar to last year we will be looking for people to help out on both days. Camp details will be sent out to parents closer to the date. This year’s Camp Coordinator is Cormac Quirke 0860783365.

Kellogs Cul Camp
This years Cul Camp will run from Monday June 30th until Friday July 4th at the Main Pitch. All Registered players from Junior infants upwards can take part. Camp details will be sent out closer to the date. This year’s camp Coordinator is Pa Beausang 0862284185.

Annual Juvenile Golf Classic
Our hugely successful Annual Juvenile Golf Classic will be held on Wednesday July 9th and Thursday July 10th at East Cork Golf Club. New teams and Tee box sponsors would be greatly appreciated. Details of the Golf Classic will be out closer to the date.

Club Gear
The Club shop will be open on Saturday from 11am to 12, a full selection of gear is available. Anyone looking for Birthday presents can also buy gift vouchers from the club shop. Full price lists are available on the club website www.midletongaa.com
