Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

Victory Dinner Dance
Our Dinner dance took place last Saturday night in the Midleton Park Hotel. A crowd of almost 300 turned out in all their finery for what turned out to be a fantastic occasion. Once again the four course meal served by the Hotel staff was top class, many thanks to Tracy, Joanne, RJ and Ken for all your help in arranging this. Secretary Vincent Reddy and PRO Coleman Quirke shared the MC duties , after Club President Monsignor Gould said Grace before the meal the trio of Chairmen , Liam Ryan, Dick Fitzgerald of the East Cork Board and Bob Ryan of the County Board all spoke of the marvellous achievements the club had in the past year. Junior C captain Patrick Dunlea accepted the medals on behalf of the Junior C Hurling Champions; Pat Hartnett manager of the Fe21 team presented the East Cork & County medals to the panel. Local Radio Gaa commentator John Cashman then introduced the Senior hurling panel in his own special way and after team manager Peter Smith spoke captain Padraig O Shea then presented his fellow players with their County winning medals. The Player of the Year awards then followed with Killian Burke taking the Fe21 Football award, Declan Ryan Junior Football, Conor Lehane Fe 21 Hurling, Micheal Keohane Junior C, Dave Hogan Junior B, Oisin Cotter Junior A and Conor Lehane Senior Hurling. Guest speaker on the night was former Offaly hurler and current RTE Sport Gaa analyst Michael Duignan who had the crowd enthralled with tales from his playing career and hilarious stories about some former players. The night was then completed with the brilliant “Sons of Steve Mc Queen” band rocking the night away until the early hours. A number of spot prizes were drawn during the evening, many thanks to the Park Hotel and Hurleys Super Valu for providing these. The committee would like to thank everybody who organised and supported this event, hopefully we can look forward to a similar successful night next year.
