Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

All Ireland Hurling Final
What a finale to a fantastic occasion!
Cork will look back on this game against Clare with mixed emotions, 30 seconds away from winning but in reality they played second fiddle to a fine Clare time for three quarters of the game.
The Executive would like to say well done to our club players Luke O Farrell (great work rate), Conor Lehane (fantastic solo goal), & the rest of the Cork players and the management for staying in the game when at times they looked dead and buried.
They say goals win matches and by God Corks three goals which were badly needed and almost pulled off the most unlikely victory. We can now catch our breath and look forward to the replay on Saturday 28th, and with the GAA generously reducing tickets prices another bumper crowd will travel to headquarters.
Final score Cork 3-16 v Clare 0-25.
The club would also like to congratulate referee Cathal Mc Allister and his team of officials for the great job they done on the Minor decider between Waterford and Galway, well done to all our club members from the Deise on their victory.

Many thanks to those who arranged a great evening in the Club with a large screen and plenty of food from Supervalu and the Boston Chipper, it was great to see so much colour.
Finally the Executive would like to thank all the club members for their co operation with the huge task we had distributing the match tickets last week, many thanks to the people who sourced there’s elsewhere and didn’t take from the Clubs limited allocation. Hopefully for the replay with only a single game the situation may be easier for everyone.

Fe11 & 12
On Saturday the 7th both our FE11 and FE12 Hurlers played in the Rebel Og League Finals in Mallow. Our FE12s played Glen Rovers first with the help of some FE11s, the format for the final was two 11 aside games and the final result the combination of both scores. Both games were very close with some great scores from both sides, at the end of both games only four points separated the teams with our lads just about shading it. Next up was the FE11s in three 11 aside games against Douglas. Again the same format was applied with the combination of the three scores, our lads played great in all the games and like the FE12s we came out on top. Well done to both of the teams on winning both leagues. Well done to both teams on a great mornings hurling, also to all the parents for their continued support. We would like to wish Gary Carroll,Dan Cagney,Patrick Kelly,James Coffey and Ethan Daly a speedy recovery from their injuries. Magpies ABU.

Fe13
We travelled to Kilmacud Crokes in Dublin last Saturday to compete in the 11 a side competition and done very well qualifying out of a group, won our semi final and played Naas in the final only to lose narrowly by a few points.
This was a great experience for the lads, well done to the players, selectors and supporters for flying the Black & White colours once again in Dublin!

Fe 14
Our hurlers after defeating St Finbarrs in the Premier 1 Championship now face Shandrum in the semi-final due to be played on the weekend of the 15th.

Fe 15
On Sunday 15th we are participating in the Andy Creagh Memorial Blitz in Blackrock.

Fe 16
In the Championship our hurlers having defeated Inniscarra, played the quarter final last Saturday morning in Kilbarry v Valley Rovers and with a very depleted team due to injurys and holidays the lads after fighting bravely lost out in this game by 3-17 v 2-07.
