Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

Senior Hurling Championship
Our hurlers had a very fine victory in the fourth round of the Championship on Sunday last against Bride Rovers in Pairc Ui Chaoimh .
In the first half we looked sharp and ran up a four point lead, they then deployed an extra defender to curb our lively attack and closed the score to just a single point. Some late scores just before halftime and a sending off for them enabled us to have a lead of 0-11 to 0-08 at the break. In the second half with the aid of the wind and an extra man we got completely on top and took our scores very efficiently. They had another player dismissed late on and there on it became more of a game of possession for us, we had the luxury to make a number of changes and ran out comfortable winners on a score of 1.24 v 1.11.
We now have qualified for the quarter final on Sunday 29th September where we await the winners of Carrigtwohill and Bishopstown.
Scorers: Conor Lehane  0-9 (four frees, one 65), Luke O’Farrell 0-5, Aidan Ryan, Brian Hartnett (one free) 0-3 each, Patrick White 1-0, Paul Haughney 0-2, Padraig O’Shea and James Nagle 0-1 each.
MIDLETON: Tommy Wallace; Killian Burke, Patrick O’Mahony, Alwyn Kearney, Seamus O’Farrell, Finbarr O’Mahony, James Nagle; Peter Dowling, Paul Haughney; Padraig O Keeffe, Aidan Ryan, Conor Lehane; Luke O’Farrell, Declan Ryan & Brian Hartnett.
