Juvenile Notes

Fe 14
Our Fe 14 footballers welcomed Mitchelstown to the Community College today for the Premier 2 Football league. Cathal Gunning & Eoin Moloney Celebrated their 14th Birthdays with a good opening league win on a scoreline of 6-04 to 3-09. Mitchelstown started the game the stronger and after 20 minutes led by 3-06 to 1-00. Midleton however upped their game for 10 minutes either side of half time and this proved the crucial 20 minutes in the game. Two goals in particular early in the second half proved enough even though Mitchelstown played the stronger football towards the end of the game.
Well done to all involved.

Fe 12
Midleton’s Fe 12's made their way to Bishopstown last Saturday for a hurling and football challenge. The team was helped out by some of the Fe 11 panel as the 12's were short a few players.
We played two teams of 10 and started with football. Bishopstown were also short a few of their better players and struggled to cope with the Midleton lads in both codes.
Our lads played very well considering they were just back after the Christmas break. What was most obvious was the passing. There was a good deal more thought put into passing rather than just pucking or kicking as far as possible.
We moved the lads around in the second half of the hurling match to give everyone a chance in different positions.
Well done lads and our thanks go to Bishopstown for hosting us and providing fruit for the kids at the end of the game.
Congratulations to Alex Quirke who's Birthday occured on the day of the Game.
The panel consisted of:
Eric Duggan, Shane Connor, Gary Carroll , Cian Crowley, Tim O'Sullivan, Dan O'Sullivan, Samuel Quirke, Alex Quirke, Rory Donegan, Evan DeBarra, Christian Murphy, Ellis Rowlands, Darragh Desmond, J.P. O'Callaghan, Paul Connaghton, Daniel Cagney, Patrick Kelly, Darragh Crowley, Aron Coughlan, Charlie Walsh.

Fe 12's away to Bishopstown

Fe 9
The Midleton Fe 9's travelled to Bishopstown on Saturday 16th for a hurling and football challenge.
16 players travelled and two teams of 8 played 30 minutes of both codes.
It was great to see the skill levels on both sides and Midleton in particluar were ground hurling very well.
The games were even enough and everyone enjoyed themselves. Well done to All and thanks to the Bishopstown for laying on the fruit and water at the end of the games.

Gum Shields
From the 1st of January 2013 it is now compulsory for juvenile players to wear gum shields (mouth Guards). The rule relates to both football training and matches. This ruling has come from GAA Headquarters and anybody not wearing a gum shield and who subsequently gets injured during a match or training session will not be covered by GAA insurance.
GAA recommended gum Shields can be purchased from our juvenile club sponsor Murphy’s Pharmacy in Midleton.
Please ensure that your child has a gum shield for every training session and game.

Training
Most teams are back training now following the Christmas break. Training times can be found on the club website www.midletongaa.com   . On the juvenile team page for your child’s team training times have been posted. We would ask parents to encourage their children to practice during the week even if the weather is bad, parents can practice catching the ball indoors. For players from junior infants to Fe 9 please remember to bring your €2 to training sessions. This money is vital to keep the juvenile section of the club funded.

The dates for the 2013 juvenile Golf Classic have been confirmed as Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th of July. We hope this years event can live up to the quality of the previous years and that the community support it as well as in the past.
