Midleton  1-12 Kiltha Og 2-11
Our Minor hurlers bowed out of the Championship after a brave performance against Kiltha Og in Killeagh on Thursday evening last. After a hours hurling a couple of late points from our opponents saw them through in the end. At half time we trailled by six points, 1-07 to0-04, but rallied strongly in the second half only to just fall short.
Team: Brian Rossiter, Alan Stanton, Gavin Bagnall, Billy O’Shea, Elliott Mulcahy, Darren Quirke, Conor Moloney, Sean O’Farrell, Gavin Hurley, Patrice Tschimanga, Padraig Nagle, Jake Hegarty, Rob Williams, Joe Murray, Michael Abernethy. Sub used: Seanaidh Smth for Joe Murray.

Senior Hurling Championship
Our Senior hurlers resume their championship campaign this coming Saturday evening, 18th, when we face Avondhu in Ballynoe with a 6.30pm throw in. We overcame Bishopstown after a tight game in our championship opener in Riverstown nearly two months ago. Since then the management team have played a number of League and challenge games. Avondhu will provide stern opposition so a performance from the top drawer will be required if we are to advance. Please come along and support the Magpies on the night.

Fe 12
The Midleton Fe 12s were invited to a blitz in semple stadium we to have 3 games on the famous pitch but were lucky enough to get 4 games. it was 11 a side and normal hurling rules, we played Eire Og (Cork) in our first game and won 1-3 to 1-1,. game two against Roanmore waterford was a very tough game and even though we didnt play our best we got a bit of luck and won ona scoreline of 3-0 to 2-2. Game 3 against Whitegate (Clare) was a little easier and by now the boys were starting to play with a bit of rhythm but under a warm sun were starting to tire and a much changed team line up we won on a scoreline of 3-2 to 2-2 and our final game against South kerry was a draw on a scoreline of 2-2 each. It was a great day out for all the players and a challange for them to play teams from around Munster We traveled with 15 players in the end as there was a few late withdrawals from the team. We would like to thank the organiser of the blitz and the travaling parents for their help on the day.

The panel on the day was
Mark Daly, Ciaran Evans, Cormac Hill, Ronan Lynch, Ryan O’Riordan, Cormac O’Brien, Ross O’Regan, Colin Oedegbe, Babatunde Olotu Jubril, Coleman Quinn, David Scanlon, Ross Shanahan, Jake Shannahan, Evan Rowlings and Cian Murray

Can all players please make training and if you are not able to get there please text that you won’t make it.

Fe 11
Midleton’s Fe 11 hurlers welcomed Cobh to the CBS grounds on Thursday 9th August. This was the first game in a while for the 11’s and they took a bit of time to get into gear. Fortunately the game was made up of two 15 minute halves and we played an extra two 10 minute sections which gave everybody the chance to get to their game speed. Overall Midleton were the stronger team and by the end of the match were comfortable. Cobh however showed well in the earlier stages of the match and put a good challenge up to the home team. Well done to all and thanks to Cobh for making the trip.

Fe 10
Midleton’s Fe 10 hurlers showed up in their usual big numbers to welcome Cobh to Midleton for a challenge match. Two teams from each side lined out for what would be two tough games. Cobh were strong on the day and brought a strong game with good hurling skills. As their older club mates would prove the following night the Fe 10’s were too strong for the visitors and came out on top in the end.
Thanks to Cobh for travelling down and thanks for a couple of great games.

Summer matches
Matches will continue during the summer holidays despite players and coaches being away. If you are not available for a period of time during the remainder of what we normally call the summer will you please let team managers know. This will help us to attend matches with the required number of players.

Training
Training continues during the summer for all juvenile groups. Check the club website www.midletongaa.com on the juvenile team page for your child’s team training times. Team managers will update teams by text if there are changes. We would ask parents to encourage their children to practice during the week even if the weather is bad, parents can practice catching the ball indoors. Please remember to bring your €2 to training sessions. This money is vital to keep the juvenile section of the club funded.
We have re commenced the coffee morning on Saturdays. Parents with children practicing can get a free cup of coffee and admire their kids in action. Many thanks to those parents who are helping with the teas and coffees.

Club Gear
Midleton GAA juvenile club will have a shop with club playing and leisure wear open each Saturday morning in the clubhouse.
