Junior B Hurling Final Replay
Midleton 1-11 – St Catherines 1-09
Midleton’s Junior B Hurling team made its way back to Castlemartyr for the replay of the East Cork Junior B Hurling Final. On a fine day but heavy underfoot it was St Catherines who came out of the traps the stronger. Just like the previous match Midleton took some time to get to the pace of the game and at one stage in the first half found themselves 6 points down. However with a few positional changes Midleton got back to 1 point down at the half way stage. Midleton as with the first game took the play to St Catherines in the second half and a goal early on from Aengus Cotter gave the lads the boost which would eventually take them to the title. St Catherines did come back with a goal of their own from a long free which dropped into the Midleton square and after a scuffle made it’s way to the net. The Magpies however kept up their hard work all over the pitch and aided by some accurate free taking from Davie O’Brien saw out the match with two points to spare.
Many congratulations go to Gavin Power and his selectors for the historic three in a row winning of the Eamonn Flemming Cup.
Michael O’Brien East Cork Board Chairman was on hand to present the cup to Captain Niall Walsh and both passed their best wishes on to Cian McCarthy and wished him a speedy recovery.

We are fixed to play Carrigtwohill athome on Sat next Nov 19th at 11am in the Hurling League Qtr Final and theFootball Championship Final is provisionally fixed for the weekend of Nov26th/27th v Blarney or Mitchelstown at a time and venue to be confirmed.
