Junior Football Championship
Midleton 0-06 Fr. O’Neills 1-07
Last Saturday saw us open our Championship campaign when we faced Fr. O’Neills in Killeagh. Defeat was to be our lot after the hours play. We went down by four points in the end and Fr.O’Neills were deserving winners. It means we will have to take the back door route if we are to progress. The selectors will be hoping for an improved performance and possibly a stronger line up in the next round. Aidan Ryan and Aengus Cotter were unavailable and their ball winning ability would be an addition to any side. Midleton now face Russell Rovers in the losers round possibly this coming weekend. No details of time and venue to hand at time of writing.
Team: Brian Behan, James O’Donnell, Sean Corcoran, Sean Hennessy, Seamus O’Farrell, Eoin Walsh, Eoin Ferriter, Pat O’Mahony, Padraig O’Shea, Barry Fitzgerald, Declan Ryan, Ciaran Mulcahy, Willie O’Brien, Stephen Moore, John Keane. Subs Used. Padraig Dalton. Jamie O’Mahony, Ian Kennifick.

Fe 21 Football championship
Our Fe 21 Footballers had a good win in the semi final of the East Cork Championship on Tuesday of last week when they overcame Aghada by two points. We started slowly and conceded a soft goal after a defensive mix up. However the lads settled and a Shane Harrington goal got us back in the game. Half way through the opening half we led by 1-03 to 1-00. However Aghada had the better of the second quarter and landed five unanswered points to lead by two at half ime on a 1-05 to 1-03 score line.
The second half was nip and tuck. Cormac Walsh who was introduced at half time had a dramatic effect as he landed three points. Paul Haughney was slso introduced and he got his name on the scoreboard as well. There was only a point in it for Midleton with five minutes left. Two pointed frees from Stephen Moore saw Midleton over the line with two points to spare. We now face Erins Own in the East Cork final.
Scorers for Midleton: S Harrington 1-2 (1f), C Walsh 0-3, S Moore 0-2 f, P Haughney, N Madden, S Ryan and P O’Mahony 0-1 each.
MIDLETON: Dara O’Keeffe; Killian Burke, Luke O’Farrell, Brian O’Sullivan; Leslie Coughlan, Seamus Farrell (Capt), James O’Mahony; Padraig O’Mahony, Ian Kenefick; Patrick White, Shane Ryan, Niall Madden; Stephen Moore, Padraig O’Shea, Shane Harrington.
Subs used; C Walsh for N Madden, P Haughney for S Ryan

Premier Minor Hurling League
Midleton 2-11 Na Piarsaigh 3-15
Our Minor hurlers got their league campaign under way on Sunday last when we hosted Na Piarsaigh. We were short a number of players but the game gave the selectors an option to look at a lot of their younger squad members. Over the hour Na Piarsaigh were the stronger side but our lads acquitted themselves well against good quality opposition. We face Glen rovers in the Glen Field on Sunday evening next at 6.30pm in our next league game.
Team: Coran Swayne, Paul Aherne, Neil O’Regan, Paudie O’Farrell, Elliott Mulcahy, Killian Burke, Leslie Coughlan, Darren Quirke, Cathal McCarthy, Cionnain O’Finnegain, Pa Whyte, Jake Hegarty, Gavin Hurley, Joe Murray, Conor Moloney. Subs used, Michael Abernethy, Billy O’Shea, Brian Fitzgerald,

Fe 16 Football Premier 2 League
Kilta Og 2-06 Midleton 4-16
This game was played in Castlemartyr last Tuesday evening in perfect conditions. We got our year off to a very good start with a convincing win over the hosts, after a slow start we settled down and played some very good football.
Team: Josh Deady, Luke Dineen, Billy O Shea, Ian Aher, Kevin Rohan, Aaron Mc Evoy, Sean O Farrell, Patrice Tschmanga, Padraic Nagle, Eanna O Brien, Conan Finnegan, Imbiblio Bello, Robert Williams, Darren Quirke and Kevin Butler. Subs Calem Deady, Lochlinn Mc Carthy, Shane Buckley and Colin Shanahan.

Fe 10 Midleton V Aghada Football Challenge
On Wednesday Evening last Midleton's Fe 10's had their third football match, this time at home.
28 lads turned out and two even teams of 11 were made up to match the Aghada numbers. Overall the matches were even enough with all of the lads showing some skill and effort. With the games played in thirds it gave a chance for substitutions to take place giving every player good game time.
Well done lads.
