Seniors Lose League Opener
Midleton 1-13 Erins Own 3-11
The Magpies opened their 2011 league campaign in a repeat of the 2010 League final when we faced Erins Own in Midleton on St. Patricks Day.
Midleton got off to a great start and aided by the wind were 0-8 to 0-3 up after twenty minutes. We took some excellent scores and were cruising at this stage. Erins Own goaled through Eoin Murphy and he added a second from a penalty almost immediately. Midleton goaled through Luke O’Farrell and at half time we led by 1-09 to 2-05 . The second half was a more competitive game as Erins Own tightened up in defence and Midleton struggled for scores. A third Erins Own goal put them in the driving seat and our forwards struggled to make an impression in the second half. In the end we lost by four points which was disappointing after such a strong start. However it is early in the year I am sure there will be better performances to come.

2011 St Patricks Day Parade
There was a bit of a wait for the kids but they held their nerve and sported the black and white with pride down main street on Thursday last.
Many thanks to all those who turned out for what was one of the best supported St Patricks Day parades in recent years.
Don't know about anyone else but it seemed like the crowds were a lot bigger than in recent years and Midleton GAA juvenile players played their part to their great credit.
Many thanks again to all the parents who brought their kids.
