Senior Hurling challenge v Galway U21's

09 September, 2010

Midleton SH challenge v Galway Under 21's

We played Galway U21s on Saturday last the 4th of September in the Gaelic Grounds Limerick at 2pm. We were privileged to be asked to play Galway as this was a vital match for them in their preparations for an All Ireland Final against Tipperary on Saturday the 11th of September. Obviously this in turn was a great game for us to play for our equally important forthcoming ¼ final of the Cork SHC versus Glen Rovers on the 12th of September @4pm in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

The game was played under an excellent sod at the Gaelic Grounds and a glorious day for hurling. We played this game without our Minors who were preparing for their ¼ final of the MHC against Blarney . The opening exchanges were very tight with Galway eventually going into a 3pt lead only for Midleton to come back to draw with 10 minutes of the 35min a half game. Galway scored a goal just before half time to now lead at the interval by 2-11 to 1-09. We were very happy at half time for this work out as the pace of the game was top notch. To the credit of Midleton we came to level the match again with some great scores from all over the field. Both teams made several substitutions during the second half but the intensity of the game never dropped. It was good to see the introduction of players showed the strong backup we have in the panel for our forthcoming game against Glen Rovers. The final score read Midleton 3-19 to Galway ’s 4-21. The Midleton goals came from Luke O Farrell, Paul Haughney and Peter Smith.

We look forward and would appreciate your support for the game next Sunday.
